The accommodation for volunteers in marine conservation in Mozambique is in an idyllic, local style, house built of wood with a straw roof overlooking the fabulous 7km sandy beach. The long veranda is the perfect place to sit if you want somewhere quiet with gentle sea breezes coming in to cool you down and the beach to look at in the distance!
The accommodation for volunteers is part of a Lodge with other accommodation for other guests and has a communal restaurant and bar as well as access down steps to the beautiful beach. The beach is 7km long and has beautiful golden sand and the Indian Ocean is warm. Sometimes you can see the local fishing from the beach or exploring some of the rocky areas around the cove and looking for sea food.
Volunteers share bedrooms kitted out with ceiling fans and mosquito nets. The bathroom has a modern shower, w.c. and basin and there is a lounge area and a kitchen with fridge and cooker where you can cook your own food if you have dietary problems.
Meals are taken in the restaurant – breakfast, lunch and dinner – the restaurant/bar is the main hub where everyone meets as there is free internet there!
Laundry services and cleaning are provided.
You can walk easily into the village if you need to buy anything or want to go out for a meal or look around.
The Lodge can change you money but there is not an ATM in the village. It’s best to get your money at the airport on arrival or ask to stop at the ATM on the way from the airport to the Lodge.
One thing’s for sure – you’re going to love this Robinson Crusoe style accommodation and will be very comfortable there.
