FGASA Trails Guide – 28 day course
FGASA Trails Guide programs lasts 28 days and takes place at remote open bush camps either in South Africa or Botswana. This course is accredited for both the Trails Guide Back Up and Advanced Rifle Handling qualifications (obtainable on this course).
One of the aims of the course is to develop practical guiding skills and important components are:
- conducting bush walks in big game country
- guiding safety
- dangerous game encounters
- managing animal charges
- rifle handling skills
There are only two of these courses per annum:
- The first, located in a remote pristine bush area with many different biomes in northern South Africa starts on 23rd June and finishes on 20th July.
- The second, located in a remote and spectacular landscape, near the border in Botswana starts on 15th July and finishes on 11th August. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
Candidates need to have a good level of fitness for this program as they will be largely walking in the bush.
